Return To Play

Basketball England has produced Return To Play (RTP) guidance to help the sport bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. This page contains the relevant information and resources that we would like to share with our members. Most of the content - including the term "Return To Play" - are from Basketball England and this page provides links to the Basketball England site - so that as contents get updated, you will have access to the most up-to-date details.

  • Before leaving the house for a basketball session, please check parents/careres or players;

    • Do not have a high temperature.
    • Do not have a new persistent cough.
    • Have not got a loss of taste or smell.
    • Have not been in contact with a person with suspected COVID-19 within the past 48 hours.
    • Have not been advised to self-isolate due to a third party from another setting that has been infected with COVID-19.
    • No-one within household has COVID-19 symptoms, which would require the whole household to go into isolation as guided by UK Government.
    • Have not returned from a foreign country in the past 10 days that the UK Government requires people to quarantine on return - a non travel-bridge country as defined by UK Government.


                           Individuals must not attend a session if any of the above are true!


  • Advice and procedures while arriving/taking part/leaving sessions;

    • Socially distance on arrival and at all possible times at the venue.
    • Temperature testing and complete a quick screening questionnaire.
    • Enter through designated entrance.
    • Regular organised breaks, to clean hands and basketballs (all sanitising products provided).
    • No shared water bottles and all water bottles to be clearly labelled with the players name on it.
    • Take drinks breaks outside the hall.
    • No handshakes, high fives or other bodily contact.
    • Parents/carers not permitted to attend sessions (with the exception of one parent/carere for very young children).
    • Leave through designated exit.
    • No congregating at the venue after sessions.


  • If COVID-19 symptoms are noticed after a session;
    • All participants (players and coaches) in a session have a responsibility to notify the Club COVID-19 Officer should they get symptoms of COVID-19 within 48 hours of a session.

    • Anyone with symptoms should ask for a test online or arrange a test by calling 119. Test to be completed within 5 days of the symptoms starting.
